    Prepare yourselves for an evening of Absolute ATC.

    When: Tuesday Nov. 24th.2009

    ALL PILOTS MUST START AT A GATE. NO SPAWNING ON THE RUNWAY PLEASE.

    ALL TRAFFIC MUST REQUEST CLEARANCE TO TAXI AND RESPECT TAXIWAY.

    RULES AND GROUNDSPEEDS
    - MAX TAXISPEED=15 KNTS
    - MAX SPD BLW 10,000=250KNTS
    - CLEAR RUNWAYS AFTER LANDING AT FIRST AVAILABLE TAXIWAY.

    Our flight this evening will be a mad-dash commuter flight with lots of landings, take-offs, cross traffic, and all the fun stuff regional pilots have to do on a daily basis.'

    Get ready to strut your stuff and show the rest of your team that you have.

    With several arrivals and departures from each airport available the landings are always different.

    For FSPassengers users, this will be a an excellelent way to build you skill level and get some points going Full ATC services should be running for at least one airport at all times, but expect Controllers at both airports at all times.

    The images below are SIDS and STARS coming in and out of both airports, the flights will be primarily CYUL to CYOW and CYOW to CYUL or vice versa. This was what I meant by regional flight event, this will be hops to and from. Pilots may start at any airport CYOW or CYUL but destinations are reserved to those 2 airports, unless ATC issues alternate. FSPassenger users be sure to include an Alternate destination in your FSPassengers flight route.

    Alternate airports for CYUL are: CYMX and CYHU
    Alternate airports for CYOW are: CYRO, CYRP and CYND

    Definition:
    - SID= Standard Instrument Departure
    - STAR= Standard Terminal Arrival

    SIDS are as follows:
    - For CYUL use CYUL6
    - For CYOW use CYOW2

    STARS are as follows:
    - CYUL: FRANX5, CEDAR7
    - CYOW: DEANS4, CYRIL8.MSS and THURO1.

    Do not be intimidated by these procedures, all they do is provide route and way-points to follow for the approach to Ottawa and Montreal.

    Example: THURO1 to Ottawa; After departing CYUL, fly direct THURO intersection then AGLIN then vectors for CYOW

    FRANX5 to Montreal; After departing Ottawa, fly direct FRANX Intersection, VIA MSS VOR(Massena) for vectors to land.

    Most of you will not even be aware that you are using a STAR, cause your vectors will be handled by the ATC. A lot of pilots fear the STAR/SID idea cause it implies a complicated flight. This cannot be farther from the truth. A STAR/SID is nothing more than a standard route chosen by ATC and as a result of good planning, to maintain visual separation and maintain fluid flight paths.

    FOR FSC (Flight Sim Commander) users, once you have selected ARR and DEST airports, You can access the SIDS/STARS by going to SID/STARS from the menu and selecting the appropriate path. The path is aligned with North, so unzooming may be necessary to reveal the whole path, but you will see the proper direction reflected showing direction of flight. Ideally, a SID will end where a STAR begins.
